16 Year old duo inflicted a demolition job on Fareham & Crofton to lead new promoted Old Tauntonians & Romsey seconds to their first Hampshire league, County Division 1 victory.

Ot’s & Romsey Batted first and were quickly two wickets down with Ieaun Wathen & John Dowling going cheaply.  This then brought Harry Tulk (107) to the crease who batted like he was the most experienced player in the team. Although Tulk was batting well wickets were falling all around him and Romsey 120 for 7 looked like they had already lost the game. However in came Dan Collins (20) whose resilient batting gave Tulk some confidence and to two put together a 50 partnership. Once Collins was stumped and Tulk caught some last minute hitting from Steve Kay (13) and Matt Bampton saw Ot’s & Romsey score 181.

In the second innings the Romsey side who still didn’t think they had enough were up for the fight. Opening spells from Rich Lake (1- 34) and Steve Kay (1-30) got Romsey off two a good start but a Luke Gould (45) put Fareham & Croftham back on track. That was in till young left arm spin bowler Matt Bampton (5-23) came into the attack as the Fareham batsman simply could not handle him.  It also wasnt long till Harry Tulk (2-18) got back into the action by taking two wickets in two balls in one over leaving Fareham 130 for 9. Captain Mike Trodd was to take the last wicket with Fareham being bowled out for 132.
