Ropley II (153-7) beat OTs & Romsey IV (96 all out) by 57 runs
OTs & Romsey IV suffered their second successive defeat of the season as their batting, once again, failed to deliver.
Ropley won the toss and chose to bat first. Tight bowling from opening bowlers Sam Costley and Jamie Beard saw both openers removed with the score less than 50. However, a 61 run partnership got the hosts’ innings back on track. Cam Melling managed to break the partnership though, removing top scorer Morris for 44.
Wickets then fail more regularly, with Beard picking up two more after good work from wicketkeeper Tom George and captain Max Costley also grabbed a brace of wickets. The late wickets saw Ropley restricted to 153-7 from their 42 overs.
Romsey then came into bat, needing 154 to secure their first victory of the season. However, opener Max Costley was bowled out for a duck, setting the tone for the rest of the innings.
Fellow opener Jack Slater added 11 and George managed 13 in an innings where only three batsmen managed double figures. There was some late resistance from Sam Costley who top scored with 28 batting at number seven but Romsey were soon all out for 96 with five overs remaining, losing by 57 runs.
