OTs and Romsey 5ths hosted Thruxton on Saturday at Hunts Farm Sports Ground.
Stand-in skipper B Hayes won the toss and invited Thruxton to bat first.
Thruxton never really dominated the Romsey bowling at any point of their innings, their highlight being a 62 partnership for the 5th wicket, and Romsey took wickets regularly enough to ensure they would not be chasing too many and Thruxton finished on 141-9 after their 42 overs. P Menage and S Kay took 3 wickets each, C Stewart 2 and R Wathen 1 took the others.
In reply openers Hayes(17) and Kay(32) gave Romsey a solid foundation putting on 55 before Mills was introduced for the visitors who took 3 quick wickets bowling quite briskly. Then a 48 run partnership between S Trodd(36) and D Service(14) put the home side in the driving seat, young Trodd playing very nicely before these were both out with the score on 108. I Wathen(31*) then came to wicket and dominated from the start picking the gaps well and hitting one big six to mid-wicket. 2 more wickets fell but Wathen together with his son Rhys brought up victory in the 41st over for a fine 3 wicket win for the OTs and Romsey.
A win in their last game will keep Romsey in the top 6 which could realise promotion for next season.
