OTs and Romsey 5ths were defeated last Saturday by IBM Hursley 2nds at Hunts Farm. Batting first Romsey posted a modest 158-9 after at one stage being a healthy 120-3. Once again they had B Hayes to thank as he made 71, D Thebe(22), A Roberts(19) and J Trodd(10) also making double figures but the middle and lower order fell away to IBMs bowlers. Former Romsey players Nick Wood and Andy Moger taking 5 wickets between them for the visitors.
After tea IBM paced their reply well and were always ahead of the run rate required. Despite Romsey’s efforts the away side reached the target required in the 36th over as all the IBM batsman contributed to their cause and in the end a comfortable seven wicket win was achieved. J Trodd(2-20) and J Humphries(1-26 off 10 overs) took the wickets on a generally disappointing afternoon for OTs and Romsey 5ths.
