OTs and Romsey 5ths made the short journey to Valley Park to play Knights Valley and came away with a win in a tight encounter.

Put into bat Romsey made a great start putting on 63 for the opening wicket before Hayes(23) was out. Fellow opener Fin Martin was out soon after for a well made 45. After this wickets fell regularly for and no two players could forge a partnership, only J Beard(15) and I Wathen(12) making double figures . Consequently Romsey were all out for 141 with still over 10 overs left of their innings and rueing not making the most of their start.

In reply Knights Valley lost the dangerous Williams in the first over from J Trodd(3-24).
From then on wickets were hard to come by but Romsey’s bowlers were keeping the run-rate down well, but the game turned when the score was on 70 with 3 wickets falling leaving Valley on 70-5 including a good run-out by Beard/George. Wickets kept on steadily falling and at 108-9 the game looked up , but the last wicket edged the score to 125 before J Beard(2-24) bowled Maker for 12. The other wicket takers for Romsey were R Wathen who bowled a super spell of 10 overs 2 wickets for just 14, and J Humphries and B Hayes taking one apiece. OTs and Romsey gaining an unlikely victory by 16 runs.
