OTs and Romsey 5th team were missing at least 5 regular players for their home match with Great Durnford on Saturday. They were scrambling for players right up to the last minute and in the end skipper D Thebe did well to get 10 out on the field. The Romsey skipper won the toss and chose to bat first perhaps fearing a long afternoon in the field in the hot conditions had he fielded. However apart from opener I Wathen(45) batting in his usual attacking way, the Romsey innings offered little resistance and nobody else reached double figures as the Great Durnford opening bowlers ran through the side (6 batsman being bowled). OTs and Romsey were dismissed for just 63 inside 18 overs with Durnford only needing 3 bowlers. Durnford were under little pressure chasing such a small target and opener Spencer was particularly aggressive on anything loose. The away side got to the 64 runs required for the win in the 12th over to win by 9 wickets. U15 debutants A Danson(1-27) and J Humphries(0-14) showed promise in their bowling for Romsey however, on what was an afternoon to forget in the main for the home side. They hope to bounce back this weekend against Ampfield and N Baddesley.
