Colts Presentation Event

The Colts Presentation of Old Tauntonians and Romsey Cricket Club for the Under 9s and Under 11s was held at the Sports Centre on Friday 29th September.

Following a well received barbecue, Under 11s Manager Stuart Shapland expressed his delight at the progress his young charges had made during the past season, winning just over half their matches. There was a great deal of enthusiasm with his squad and the whole team deserved praise.

There were three awards in the Under-11s category as follows:

Batsman of the Year: Reece Mitchell-Lee
Bowler of the Year: Navi Lakhpuri
Most Improved Player: Nico Newman

Under-9s Manager Mike Trodd stated how he worried at the start of the season if he could field a full team of under 9s, in the end he was happy with the players who turned up for training every week and took part in the New Forest Pairs Championship, winning four of their 9 games.

There were four awards given to the Under-9s as follows:

Batsman of the Year: James Trodd
Bowler of the Year: Kian O'Connor
Most improved player: Finlay Holden
Special Award: Angus Mackie

The Awards for the Under-13s and Under-15s will be held on the evening of 11th November.

Danny Collins leads Quiz stars ...

Danny Collins led his side to a resounding victory in last Friday's Sports Quiz. There was a good attendance despite teams promised not turning up causing food wastage. The quiz hosted by Sky Sports Cricket Statistician Richard Isaacs and organised by Brenda Isaacs saw 4 teams pit their wits against each other.

The Sports Questions were hard said some of the contestants, but in the end Danny Collins lead Rob Newman, Dave Service and Vic Isaacs to victory.

In search of Scorebooks

In an attempt to get Romsey and Old Tauntonians matches onto the Internet pre almagamation, especially in the Southern League years, I am looking for any former scorer or maybe captains who might still have a scorebook or more at home.

If you have I would be delighted to see them, if you want them back I will gladly do that, just need to type them up.

Please contact me vicisaacs@talktalk.net, I can collect.
